Aajonus Vonderplanitz (born Richard Swigart in 1947, died 28 August 2013) was an American nutritionist and activist, based in Malibu, California
The quote above was Aajonus Vonderplanitz's Mission Statement: “To help reverse disease and facilitate healthier lives and a more peaceful world for those interested.”
“The field of honest nutrition lost definitely one of its most valiant crusaders with the death of Dr. Aajonus Vonderplantiz. Yes, his credential(s) have been recently questioned by his detractors, but I keep them intact simply because Aajonus was in a true sense of the word a doctor. In fact, it is doubtful that anyone surpassed him with his adherence to Hippocrates dicta of “First, do no harm” and “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.” Compounding his love for healing with nutrition was his tenacious pursuit to secure the availability of that medicine in the form of free access to nutritious sources of food. Rarely do we find such a composite of compassion, passion, and political zeal wrapped up in one individual. Aajonus has his fingerprints on just about anyone living today who practices various degrees of raw food eating. He was a warrior who has prematurely gone to rest and will be missed by all who knew, loved and respected him.”
