Bison BBQ Ribs

This is my husband’s favorite meal! You can use short or back ribs to make this recipe. You can't go wrong.

Prep Time: 2 1/2 Hours

Cook Time: 4 hours


  • 5 lbs Northstar Bison Short or Back Ribs
  • 3 Bay Leaves
  • 1 Kettle with Water, Just Enough to Immerse Ribs

Homemade BBQ Sauce Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Ketchup
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Large Onion, Chopped Fine
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Tabasco Sauce
  • 1 Bottle of “Gourmet Maple BBQ Sauce”
  • 1/2 cup Water


Fill kettle with water, just enough to immerse ribs, add bay leaves. Simmer ribs until done, 1 1/2 -2 hours. Remove meat from water and cool slightly.
