Worth the price
"Excellent option. Very rarely needed, but if it is needed it is worth the price to pay to have the shipments protected in case of delivery delays and the dry ice would have time to completely evaporate and the delay long enough for the meat to thaw and/or become unsafe. Have come close to possibly needing this service only once, but while the dry ice was gone, the liquid around edges of the packages of meat had begun to thaw, the meat itself was still rock hard, frozen. Really was not wanting to go through the process of having to have the meat reshipped. Still, in the event it is needed, yes, I'm happy to pay for the service."

Shipping Insurance
"I've found it is often best to purchase the shipping insurance even though Northstar Bison packs enough dry ice in their packages to last for 3 to 4, even 5 days delay in shipping, it depends on undependable shipping to get the meats to the destination on time. When I live half the country distance from where Northstar is, it's well worth the protection. Thankful I've never needed it, but one time it was very near the point when it would have been necessary. Two orders ago the shipping delay lasted 5 days beyond what Northstar had paid for, and I was sure the meat would be melted and warm enough it couldn't be safely trusted. What I found was that while the outside edges had just begun to melt the meat was still solidly frozen in the vast majority and the outside edges were still easily cold enough to not be a danger. Another 24 hour delay and the story would have changed. Makes it worthwhile when delivery transportation is as undependable as it is."
